Our Mission... The Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Charlottetown will strive to enhance the quality of life for the people who live and work within our municipality, as well as for those who visit. We will encourage and provide the leadership for the development of safe, accessible, diverse, and high-quality recreational opportunities. The Parks and Recreation Department will utilize the four benefit areas of parks and recreation as the frame work from which to evaluate its programs, services and facilities which include the personal, social, economic, and environmental benefits of participation.
The department provides many programs to users of all ages and ability levels and is proud of its inclusion program, which opens the door to youth with special needs. As well, the department provides support services to more than 30 recreation related organizations and over 1,000 volunteers. The City of Charlottetown boasts a strong volunteer network, which delivers all of the sport related programs in the City including minor hockey, figure skating, minor soccer, minor ball, ringette, minor basketball, football, and speed skating.
