More than 5,000 people gathered in Victoria Park on Saturday, August 20 for the screening of CBC and the Tragically Hip present: ‘The Tragically Hip: A National Celebration’. Volunteers, (from left) Judy O'Brien, Doris MacKinnon and Jane O'Brien, walked through the crowd to help collect donations for The Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research. The fund aids in the investigation of new drugs, surgical techniques and genetic therapies for brain cancers that are currently considered "unbeatable". Donations from the Charlottetown event are estimated to have reached close to $5,000 including online donations made by residents attending the event.
